The 2006 Winter Games had the lowest TV viewer rating in the history of the Winter Games. They say it’s because so many people are watching Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol, ect. (if you ask me it’s pretty stupid. You can watch those shows anytime, but the Olympics are only on two weeks every other year). So now NBC wants to make the Olympics more appealing to teenagers by turning it into almost a reality show. They’re planning on putting hidden cameras to record what the athletes are doing when they think we’re not looking and to have private athlete confessional rooms so they can share their thoughts. In my opinion, it seems like they’re trying to ruin the Olympics. The whole point of the Games is to watch people play sports, not to hear their innermost thoughts. The Olympics were started in 1896 to bring nations together. It wasn’t about money, or TV ratings, or even entertainment very much. But that’s just my opinion.
